Illuminating Elegance Laguna Gallery
Introduction
Nestled in Curitiba, Brazil, the Laguna Gallery stands as a beacon of luminosity and tranquility, designed by Estúdio 41 to promote well-being and elevate the urban landscape. With its understated elegance and thoughtful design, the gallery offers a sanctuary for gatherings and celebrates the art of living.
Design Concept
The project posed a unique challenge: how to create desirable visuals on a narrow lot flanked by walls and facing a busy street. Estúdio 41 responded with two key strategies: excavating a garden underground to create a new space and employing translucent materials to capture luminosity without compromising privacy.
Architectural Layout
The gallery’s layout follows the geometry of the lot, with the parking lot situated at the rear and the shop window facing the street. Spanning three floors, the ground level features a café/bar and visitor reception, while the basement houses areas for models, meetings, and brokers’ work. The top floor is dedicated to showcasing decorated apartments.
Innovative Facades
The gallery’s facades employ a double envelope system for thermal efficiency and visual appeal. Externally, white alveolar polycarbonate creates a striking volume, while internally, aluminum and acid-etched glass offer a subtle elegance. This combination allows natural light to filter through while maintaining privacy.
Structural Ingenuity
A prefabricated concrete structure forms the backbone of the building, providing support without overshadowing the design. Simple and modulated, the structure harmonizes with the translucent envelope, harnessing the potential of natural light to create a serene and contemplative atmosphere.
Luminous Ambiance
The ultimate goal of the Laguna Gallery is to exude a sense of subdued luminosity, fostering an environment of quiet reflection and decision-making for prospective property owners. Through thoughtful design and innovative use of materials, Estúdio 41 has crafted a space that transcends function to become a sanctuary for the senses.
