Located in one of Kyiv’s most vibrant neighborhoods, DOT Coffee Station #1 is a bustling city café specializing in high-quality coffee drinks to go. The interior design reflects the essence of modern urban living, offering an eclectic ambiance with a gentle rhythm and an unmistakable urban vibe.
Pixel Art Inspiration
Central to the design concept is the mosaic pixel art adorning the café’s walls, incorporating the dot as a recurring motif. Serving as a visual focal point, the pixel art captures the essence of urban experiences without conveying any specific message. Instead, it aims to evoke a sense of peculiarity, sincerity, and universality—emotions akin to those felt by denizens of a bustling metropolis multiple times a day.
Dynamic Elements
Another prominent feature of the interior design is a narrow screen displaying scrolling text, injecting a sense of dynamism and rhythm into the space. Much like the rush of adrenaline following a double espresso, this scrolling text mirrors the energy pulsating through the veins of café patrons.
Transparent Facade
DOT Coffee Station #1 seamlessly integrates with the cityscape through its transparent facade, eschewing traditional doors in favor of glass sliding doors that invite the energy of the city inside. This open facade design underscores the café’s welcoming atmosphere, with just a few steps separating patrons from their much-needed caffeine fix.
Blend of Materials
Inside the café, white mosaic tiles and exposed brick walls coexist harmoniously, paying homage to the building’s rich history dating back to 1900. The lofty ceiling height of 475 centimeters enhances the sense of spaciousness and luminosity within the café, eliminating the need for a mezzanine seating area.
Rustic Charm
DOT Coffee Station #1 offers limited seating, including small tables, a niche with a bench, and a sprawling bench along the building facade. Crafted from reclaimed timber, these seating elements exude rustic charm and serve as a contrast to the sleek stainless steel fixtures, adding warmth and character to the contemporary interior design.
