India Reports 214 Fresh COVID-19 Cases

India witnessed a total of 214 new cases of coronavirus infections on Saturday, with a slight uptick in the number of active cases, which now stands at 2,509, as per the latest data released by the Union health ministry.
Current Scenario
The total tally of COVID-19 cases in the country has now reached 4.46 crore (4,46,79,761), while the death toll has risen to 5,30,718, including four new deaths reported in the past 24 hours. Among these fatalities, two were reconciled by Kerala, with one each reported from Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh.
Positivity Rates and Recovery Rate
The daily positivity rate stands at 0.11 percent, while the weekly positivity rate is recorded at 0.12 percent, according to the data provided on the health ministry’s website. The active cases represent a mere 0.01 percent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has soared to 98.80 percent.
Vaccination Drive
In the ongoing nationwide vaccination campaign, a staggering 220.13 crore doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered across the country, as per the ministry’s records.
Historical Milestones
India has witnessed significant milestones in its battle against the pandemic, with the COVID-19 tally surpassing various benchmarks over time. The country crossed the two crore mark on May 4, 2021, followed by three crore on June 23, and four crore on January 25 last year.
